Raising Confident and Comfortable Kids in a Diverse and Changing World

Chinese New Year officially starts on February 16, but we’re getting a head start on the celebrating at Discovery Center. We’d love for you to join us for our annual Chinese New Year celebration on Sunday, February 4 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. We understand that February 4 is Super Bowl Sunday, but you’ll have plenty of time to get back home and nosh on the buffalo chicken dip before the game starts.

Made possible through partnership with the Confucius Institute at Middle Tennessee State University and sponsorship by the Nissan Foundation, Chinese New Year is a free event that transports you across the globe! Stop by the calligraphy table and have your name written in Chinese or stop by the tangram station and give your puzzle skills a workout. We’ll also have space for you to learn about traditional tea ceremonies and try a tasty sample. If you’re looking for something a little more active, we’ll have tai chi sessions and language classes. Finally, the pièce de résistance is a traditional lion dance performed by the Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville at 3:00 pm.
