Hispanic Heritage Day (free day)

Sunday, Sept. 15  |  1 – 5 p.m.

Explore the traditions of Hispanic culture, enjoy bilingual story time, create your own papel picado, and more! The national theme this year is Hispanic Americans: A History of Serving Our Nation. This is a free event in partnership with Murfreesboro City Schools, sponsored by the Nissan Foundation. More info»

Hands-On Harley-Davidson exhibit opening day

Saturday, Sept. 21  |  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Celebrate Discovery Center’s newest featured exhibit, Hands-On Harley-Davidson, and learn all about Harley motorcycles! Join us for special opening day activities where you’ll learn about combustion, make your own rubber, and design a biker patch! Included with admission. More info coming soon!

Homeschool Lab: Wetland Wonders

Wednesday, Sept. 25  |  2 – 3 p.m.

K-5th graders will explore the urban wetlands that unique plants and animals call home. Weather permitting, students put on boots to wade in Murfree Spring, use a net to catch and release tadpoles, and have an up-close encounter with our wetlands animals. Info & registration»

Parents’ Night Out

Friday, Sept. 27  |  5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Drop off the kids for a fun night of activities led by Discovery Center staff! Kids will get the night to explore our new Hands-On Harley-Davidson exhibit and participate in fun science experiments and activities. Fall Break Camp: Full of Energy

When school is out, camp is in! CAMPOLOGY at the Discovery Center incorporates fun, hands-on, inquiry-based learning into all of our camps. During fall break, we’ll be exploring different types of energy, including solar, wind, hydroelectric, fossil fuels and nuclear! Info & registration»

Tennessee STEAM Festival

Oct. 11-20 at locations across the state

Science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) will come to life at events across the state during the 3rd annual Tennessee STEAM Festival. The Festival was founded by the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring and incorporates free events at a wide range of museums, schools, community centers and other attractions. More info at TNsteam.org.
