Nerd Trivia (21+)

The Green Dragon Pub and Brewery, 714 F West Main St, Murfreesboro

Join your two favorite local museums, the Discovery Center and Adventure Science Center, for a night of trivia fun. We’ll be taking over the pub to challenge your neurons with our unique take on the traditional bar trivia night. Don’t forget, there are prizes too! Attendees must be 21 or older. Rainforest Adventure exhibit opens

Saturday, May 12  |  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Embark on a tropical rainforest adventure at the Discovery Center and learn all about life in a rainforest habitat! The museum’s newest traveling exhibit, Rainforest Adventure, opens May 12 with special activities for all ages. Included with admission, free for members. More info»


Science on Tap

Mayday Brewery, 521 Old Salem Rd., Murfreesboro

The Nashville Section of the American Chemical Society is sponsoring its inaugural Science on Tap event at Mayday Brewery in Murfreesboro. The presentation by Vanderbilt professor Louise Rollins-Smith is entitled “Fun with Frogs in the Rainforest and What They Can Teach Us” (or “Turning Frogs into Princely Drugs”?) and brings attention to the Discovery Center’s new exhibit, Rainforest AdventureFree and open to the public. Sibshop

Friday, May 18  |  5 – 9 p.m.

Sibshops are a celebration of the many lifelong contributions made by brothers and sisters of people with special health and developmental needs. Children will engage in fun-filled activities, games, and talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with special needs. For siblings ages 8-13. Dinner is provided. Cost: $10 per child. More info & registration»


Summer Camps begin

Tuesday, May 29

When school is out, camp is in! The Discovery Center incorporates fun, hands-on, inquiry-based learning into all of our camps. Campers are divided into different age groups each with their own Camp Counselor and age-appropriate lessons packed with hands-on games and activities designed to help campers learn, socialize and have fun! Each camp offers the opportunity for exploration of museum exhibits and free play outdoors, weather permitting. Snack is provided by Discovery Center each afternoon. More info & registration»

SNACK ATTACK

Mondays – 3:30 p.m. Create easy, healthy snacks with our staff! Participate in the cooking (and eating!) process as you explore healthy cooking from around the world. Recipes and nutritional information available to take home. Appropriate for ages 3 & up.
