Math Homework 101

Specifically For Parents!

Tuesday, Oct. 18 | 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Free and open to adults

So… your child is in elementary school and you feel a bit lost with their math homework? You are in luck! Hosted by the Discovery Center, Math Homework 101 is designed to be parent-friendly and math-specific. Learn simple techniques for helping your child excel in math, including card games, dice games and more.

Math surrounds our world, and these helpful tips from a math expert will help you and your child become math aware. Children are exposed to mathematical dimensions in their world early in life from sharing food, to finding patterns or balancing blocks. These are math skills that should be embraced. A few helpful hints will increase your child’s understanding of math and promote a great base for their future education regardless of your child’s age.

Mathematics is problem-solving and helps children make sense of their world. In elementary school, children need math skills not only in math courses but also in science, social studies, and other subjects.

This session is designed for parents of elementary students. It will be fun and interactive. Don’t bring a calculator; your mind and imagination will work perfectly!

Facilitated by Cindy Cliche, Coordinator of Math, Murfreesboro City Schools.
