January 21 & 28 | 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Half-price admission, plus prizes
Beckman’s Pharmacy and the Discovery Center are partnering to host two vaccination events Friday, January 21 and 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Along with the opportunity for the COVID-19 vaccination, the Discovery Center is offering snacks and educational activities to teach families about vaccine science and how inoculation protects against harmful diseases. Admission to the events will be half-price for everyone ages 2 and up.
“The best path to overcoming vaccine hesitancy is providing easy-to-understand information, which instills confidence in the science behind this critical medical technology,” said Discovery Center President and CEO Tara MacDougall. “Access to vaccines is only part of the equation; equally important is raising awareness and educating our communities with the help of medical professionals.”
The first 50 people who get a vaccination during the event will receive a gift bag including a free ticket to come back and visit the museum and other goodies.
COVID-19 vaccinations available at the event include Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson for ages 5 and older. Booster shots are also available for ages 18 and older. Guests are encouraged to consult with their healthcare provider to determine whether they are able to be vaccinated, or to ask any questions about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.
The Discovery Center vaccine events are part of Communities for Immunity. Communities for Immunity is made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. For more information, visit www.communitiesforimmunity.org.
