2314 Higgins Lane

The secret garden at 2314 Higgins Lane is not only incredibly beautiful but also so very peaceful. Flowers and plants cover every inch of space with special thought into where they are planted. There is an abundant vegetable and herb garden displaying unique and functional ways to help them to grow and utilizing the space. Bees, dragonflies, a rabbit and even some garden fairies cannot get enough and have made this garden their home.

1521 Glenridge Drive

You will instantly feel transported as you enter the backyard oasis at 1521 Glenridge Drive. Exquisite and unique plants wrap around peaceful water features and nooks to sit and enjoy time with family and friends. The koi pond is not only filled with fish but water lilies and other water foliage. The homeowners grandchildren each have a tree amongst the oasis that they planted as a seedling. They say that this backyard transformation has been a labor of love but you will clearly see that it has been well worth it with all of their love for gardening and family shining through.

2903 Amber Drive

When you enter the garden at 2903 Amber Drive you will feel as if you have instantly stepped into a botanical garden, not someone’s backyard. Dedicated to her father, Nelson Havill, an uncertified master gardener in Southern Illinois where this master gardener grew up, many of his plants have been transplanted into the heart of this garden making this a secret garden filled with so much history and love. The herons in her garden symbolize his spirit and presence. The textures and colors in every bed are so vibrant that you cannot help but smile in awe. A  lot of thought has gone into placing each plant in a location to help its growth and to add layers of beauty.

5102 Chesterfield Drive

Step into this backyard oasis in South Murfreesboro and be greeted by a tranquil Japanese Garden with a gate that was built by the owner. The owners love to entertain and it’s immediately obvious that anyone would want to be a guest at one of their garden parties. Highlights of this space are the grapevines and wisteria and pots of perennials that were grown from seed.

2106 Look Rock Court

This breathtaking garden is a perfect example of how much work can be done to make a “newer” garden seem established. It has been a true labor of love for this master gardener which features a butterfly garden of host plants like fennel, lantanas, and nectar plants. The bees love it too! The smell of lavender fills the air in this beautiful backyard that also features an oak tree that was grown from an acorn.

811 East Clark Boulevard

Katie's Garden at Grace Lutheran Church is a community garden that provides a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables for the residents of Rutherford County to enjoy. The inspiration for the garden at Grace comes from Martin Luther’s wife, Katharina. Katie’s dynamic views were family centered, leading her to work extensively in the garden and with their livestock to feed their family, Martin’s students who often stayed with them, and friends and neighbors. Katie was focused on the physical needs of those in her community while Martin attended to the spiritual.  Like Martin and Katie Luther, Grace Lutheran Church wishes to attend to the physical and spiritual wellbeing of the community it serves. The produce items will be available on Saturday mornings 8-10AM during the growing season.
